More about the maker:

Giovanni Battista Pallaver (1908–1986) was an Italian violin maker from Ala di Trento who worked primarily in Verona. From 1952 he studied violin making in Milan under Andrea Bisiach and Raffaele Capsoni, placing him within the influential Bisiach school of twentieth-century Italian lutherie. Although rooted in this tradition, Pallaver developed a personal style that departs subtly from his teachers while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship.

His instruments were built on classical models and are distinguished by their refined proportions, confident carving, and carefully finished scrolls. Pallaver selected quality tonewoods and typically employed a red-amber to warm orange varnish, enhancing both the visual depth and acoustic response of his work. Instruments by Pallaver are noted for their clarity, power, and balanced tonal character, qualities that have made them appealing to professional players. His work represents a continuation of the Italian classical revival, combining traditional modelling with an individual and disciplined hand.
