Stringed Instrument Hire

Hiring from WA Music gives you access to quality stringed instruments, expertly set up by our in-house luthiers. Stringed Instruments are not all the same! The quality of the set-up, strings, tailpiece, bow and tuning pegs all affect the overall sound of the instrument and the ease of playing. A proper setup—including strings, tailpiece, bow, and pegs—greatly improves sound and playability.

Hiring is ideal for beginners or growing children who’ll need different sizes over time.

What instruments are available to hire?

We hire:

  • violins (sizes 1/16 to 4/4) includes case, bow and rosin
  • violas (11"to 16.5"") includes case, bow and rosin
  • cellos (1/16 tp 4/4) includes padded bag, bow and rosin
  • double basses (1/16 to 3/4) includes padded bag, bow and rosin

What is the cost?

Our stringed instrument hire starts at $28 a month. For all rental instruments, an upfront payment of 3 month's of hire is required when collecting an instrument. All subsequent monthly payments are direct debited through a credit/ debit card.

  • Violin $28
  • Viola $30
  • Cello $ 40
  • Double Bass $90

What do I need to hire?

To hire, just come in to our store with a current WA driver's licence and a credit card. If you are hiring from mid Jan to mid March, feel free to give us a call ahead to check on availability.
