Roberto Collini, Cremona – 2015
A fine contemporary Italian violin by Roberto Collini, a Cremonese-trained luthier whose work reflects the great tradition of classical Italian violin making. This instrument was made in 2015, after the model of Hieronymus Amati, Cremona, 1696.
The violin features a spruce top with medium-to-wide, regular grain, a figured maple back with irregular medium-width flame, and a figured maple scroll. It is finished in a warm orange-brown oil varnish.

Roberto Collini is a contemporary Italian violin maker based in Crema, near Cremona. He studied at the International School of Violin Making in Cremona from 1979, graduating in 1983 under the guidance of Giorgio Scolari and subsequently completing his apprenticeship in Scolari’s workshop. He further refined his knowledge of classical Italian instruments under the renowned makers Arnaldo Morano and Gio Batta Morassi.
Collini has received numerous awards in national and international violin-making competitions, including gold and silver medals for violins, violas and cellos. His instruments are noted for their careful workmanship and strong acoustic qualities and are played by professional musicians in Italy and internationally.
