FH34S 34-String Harp (Walnut) by Dusty Strings
The Staveback FH34S is the lightest 34-string harp in the Dusty Strings FH range, designed with portability in mind. Its sleek, compact shape, weight-conscious construction, and removable stand make it an easy instrument to travel with, whether you’re heading to a performance or simply moving between spaces at home. With 34 strings, it offers a satisfying playing range, while the solid wood build delivers the refined sparkle the FH line is known for. It’s a versatile, enjoyable harp that suits everything from stage work to relaxed sessions at home, therapy settings, or even a pub session.
The tone is sweet, warm, and beautifully balanced, with a full bass and a clear, singing treble. It carries that familiar Dusty resonance and brightness, with a little more clarity between notes and a slightly more focused sound than the larger FH models. The mid and treble strings are made in a slightly lighter gauge, allowing for an easy, responsive feel under the fingers while still supporting a confident, expressive touch without distortion.
The soundbox features a full, faceted, arched staveback design, and the top of the soundboard measures a comfortably narrow 10 cm. It sits naturally against the shoulder, making it easy to reach across the full range, including the lowest strings. A choice of leg options allows players to adjust the height to suit their preference, with a standing-height stand currently in development.
In its lightest configuration, walnut paired with Loveland levers, the harp weighs approximately 8 kg, with a natural variation of around 0.5 kg due to differences in wood density. Choosing Camac levers adds roughly 0.3 kg, and selecting alternative wood species may increase the overall weight further.
