A fine violin by the luthier Luigi Galimberti. This violin is in impeccable condition and comes with certification.
The back of this violin is hand-crafted with two pieces of maple, connecting at the center and expanding towards the sides. The soundboard consists of two pieces of tight grained spruce, both of which tighten in the center and widen towards the edges. The ribs and head consist of a maple similar to that of the back. Luigi Galimberti (1888–1957) was an Italian violin maker active in Milan during the first half of the twentieth century. Born in Seveso, north of Milan, he trained under Innocente Rottola and Romeo Antoniazzi and further refined his skills during a formative period in Paris. From 1928 to 1930 he worked for the renowned firm Monzino & Garlandi, alongside Romeo and Riccardo Antoniazzi, before establishing his own workshop in Milan, first at 7 Piazza Borromeo and later at 17 Via Dolomiti.
Galimberti was a highly prolific maker, producing a wide range of bowed instruments, including around thirty double basses, as well as numerous guitars. His violins were often built on Antoniazzi and classical models and are noted for their warm golden-yellow varnish, applied in both oil and spirit. His work received widespread recognition, earning medals at major national exhibitions in Rome and Florence.

Blot has extensive experience in the field of Italian violin making, accumulating in publications of volumes of "Liuteria Italiana", as well as many contributions to catalogues of violin making exhibitions.
He is a celebrated violin maker and restorationist, trusted with the restoration of many important classical instruments.
This violin was professionally restored by Eric Blot. He has provided a signed Certificate of Authenticity (2024).
