Description
Vandoren Java Tenor Saxophone Reeds (Filed Cut) (Box of 5)Ā
The Vandoren Java Tenor Saxophone Reeds have a tip that is thicker than a traditional reed and offers more flexibility. This allows vibration over an increased surface area with maximum elasticity. This type of vertebral column gives the musician much greater playing flexibility, as the resultant elasticity zone is very large.
What is the difference between a filed reed and an unfiled reed?
Filed reeds, or French Cut reeds, are sax reeds with straight horizontal line cut just above the bark. Unfiled reeds, or American Cut, are identified by their distinct āUā shape at the bottom of the vamp, and no line. This feature has very little, if any, influence on the tone color of the reed. The actual profile of the vamp has much more influence on the overall sound.
